Yet Another Hike

Good afternoon! This week has been an emotional roller coaster lowkey but its been good! Enjoy!

I still cant belive its literally MARCH
Ive been gone from home for 5 months at the end of march, thats so crazy😭

We had a good day though!
Since I ratted to President about sister churchills piano skills, he has asked her to play some piano songs for an event on march 17th. The exact event I do not know but I think it could be related to transfers? Anywho, shes been listening to the audio clips of these piano songs for the past day or two and during lunch today she literally figured out both songs in one hour without any sheet music😲 My mind is actually blown away by her skills bro

After that we had our weekly planning @ red Robin again where we did all of our planning in a little over an hour!!! Previously, I have taken upwards of 4 hours but my STLs help last week was so good! It also helps that we have very little dots lol so we mostly just filled in finding time💀

Later that night, we had a phone call lesson with Aaron for an hour and a half basically💀
He is SO CLOSE to being baptized still😭 We talked about the bom, shared an awesome member testimony that he really seemed to appreciate but Aaron said he is still looking for that gut feeling or any sort of feeling to confirm the truth of the book of mormon to him. We tried to explain that confirmation sometimes comes after the trial of your faith (ether 12:6 basically), but I dont know if he feels ready yet, but maybe!!
He takes a long time to process things and we also explained that transfers are coming up and we are afraid that the next missionaries won't be teaching him because of the push to put people on date immediately, so I think that made his gears start turning a little bit. He truly feels like a friend now to me but I can't just keep talking to him because we are pals, my purpose is to help others come into Christ through baptism. So I really hope that our call tomorrow will lead to setting a date.
Also, sister Churchill is so good at talking to him. She is patient and so in tune with the spirit. A lot of times, I lean towards teaching the lesson, but she teaches the person. That is something I really admire about her teaching and I want to practice doing that too.

Newsletter is done
I finished it! It's on the Colorado Denver North Mission Facebook page now and I think I cooked. I enjoy doing it a lot and the senior missionaries appreciate that I do it too so it's nice to have my talents recognized by others.

Aaron's progress
Had a phone call lesson and he told us he wanted to talk about the degrees of glory so we literally started reading Doctrine & Covenants 76 with him😂 It feels so out of order to be talking about these things but I feel like he is like me in the sense that he likes to go deep on choice topics instead of going wide if that makes any sense. But yea we are just chugging along and trying to help him gain a testimony of the book of mormon.

Dinner w YSA sisters
We haven't had a lot of dinners this week because of stake conference (so the meal calendar wasn't passed around) which meant that we had the opportunity to eat out a lot more. With this time, I wondered if we could have dinner with other missionaries, and we can!! We invited our STLs and the YSA sisters to have chickfila with us and the STLs had a dinner appointment but the YSA sisters came! I thought it was fun and I lowkey want to do it again tomorrow since we don't have a dinner appointment.

Bruh my comp is so cool
She got a guitar today and her dad bought it for her with her tax return money and it's a brand new fender! As I write this, she's sorta tuning it and trying to learn a song I played for her just using her memory of hearing it once

Oh yea and earlier today we woke up at 5:30 to have walking interviews with half our zone by going on a trail in Boulder cañon! It was so long and painful😭 But good at the same time! I enjoyed talking to the sisters and I hated walking so much and so fast but it gave me a good lesson to think about. I think so far I've been pushing against the currant and not letting my mission change me. I keep thinking like “what am I even doing here” like “why is this Florida girl in a bunch of mountains going on a hike” and I've been having this mindset of “im the kind of person that doesn't like hiking or being active” so I've been just having such a fixed mindset on what i can and cant do and who I am vs who I am not. But i think part of the point of a mission is to turn into a Coloradan rather than stay a Florida girl but like in a metaphorical sense if that makes sense.

Once we walked 8 miles, we drove to VooDoo donuts and I got the Old Dirty _______ and a donut with a pentagram on it lol. For context, its like a ‘hip and cool’ donut shop that's not like other girls so they have unique names and they have a painting of the South Park creators in their shop if that gives yall any context lol. But yea they were super good 👌

We were driven home, I took a well deserved hour long nap, got ready, did pstudy, then we took FlexRide to the church building where we did our comp study and then found out about sister Churchill's guitar arriving. When she found out it was here (I had no idea she bought it btw lol), she was SO EXCITED! Once the senior missionaries left, she quite literally jumped for joy and I've never seen that lol. It made me so happy to see her happy!

Then we were picked up for dinner by the YSA sisters and we got dinner out together! I used some money my Dad gave me on Monday to pay for our dinner so I want him to know it was spent well😉 OH and sm funny was when sister churchills food came out😂 She ordered a dish called half chicken and then literally HALF A CHICKEN was on her plate! Her stomach is the size of a gummy krabby patty so when it arrived her jaw literally DROPPED. Sister Martell took a picture of her face a few seconds after her plate arrived and she was still pretty stunned😂 She ended up asking us to eat some of her food too after we were done with ours so it worked out great for all of us.

Then we were dropped off at chickfila where we had a phone call lesson with Aaron
WE ARE SO CLOSE TO PUTTING HIM ON DATE I SWEAR OH MY HECK
This is what I wrote in summary of our lesson on pmg:
We talked about the council in heaven, which lead to talking about the war in heaven, and then eventually enduring to the end which led to talking about baptism. He said he wants to progress and we said there's really no other step to take besides baptism
He was getting tired but said that he wants to talk more and we asked if we could pick a date tomorrow and he said yes!
We also warned him about Satan getting in the way of him being baptized and he really appreciated the warning

So yea!! Hopefully he will be on date in less than 24 hours!!!! I also hope we can do the 15th so we can be the missionaries there to help him get baptized

Then we walked to Walmart and went finding for 10 minutes where we had a phone call lesson with Rigo. We taught him 3 principles and got a return appt! So he is a green dot now! He said he's not ready to go back to church but is open to keep talking and reading the scriptures.

And now we're back to right now! Currently, sister Churchill is picking out some Jesus stickers I have to put on the back of her guitar she just bought haha.

Inside all day
It snowed all day today! And by the pure grace of God, we were able to be inside all day!! We had our district council today, then contacted all of our dots in one sitting, had lunch, called a few friends, then it was time to go to a lesson with Angela!

Pass off lesson
Our STLs drove us to Louisville, where we had a pass off lesson with Angela. We met her at the mall then had phone call lessons until we saw her again in person for stake conference. Once she arrived, she told us “oh! This is like 5 minutes from my house!” That's when we realized she wasn't in our area, so we coordinated a lesson with the Elders in Louisville so we could have a lesson all together and pass her off to them so they can continue teaching her. Lowkey bummed because she was progressing nicely but I felt like she wasn't my person for whatever reason, so I hope the elders connect with her better.

Dang it Aaron!
So we literally warned Aaron about Satan, right? Bro literally is letting him win already🤦‍♀️ We were going to call him at 2pm but then he asked to move it to 4:30pm because he had to pick up his son from school, then he told us at like 4pm that he had a migraine and had to postpone to tomorrow. LIKE COME ON! Just take the dunkin! I really hope tomorrow we can talk to him and finally put him on date. We've waited all transfer basically for this😭

Moving some KIs finally
We had our split with the STLs and I was with sister Lemus in our area and we got 2 NPTs! It's been a slow week so im happy we have gotten some NPTs😁

Rigos lesson
It was a good lesson! He told us he was sick so I expressed my gratitude that he was still able to call us. We had him download the bom app then we read the introduction to the book of mormon with him, talked about the falling away, the restoration, and prayer. So we invited him to read 1 Nephi 1 and then pray to know if what he read was the word of God. I have hope for Rigo! I hope he can properly progress. Something I'm making sure to do with him is to make the lessons short. Im hoping this way we won't bombard him with info and scare him off because he said he isn't ready for church yet so im hoping the bom and prayer will help him progress or help him decide he isn't ready for it.

Chisme w S. Lemus
While on the split too, we shared chisme! From my understanding, chisme is a Hispanic term for like “tea” basically. So sister Lemus told me how many boys she's kissed before the mission, and I told her all the elders I think are cute and talked about which ones I think are annoying and why haha.

S. Churchill is the female E. McFarland
Bro as soon as president found out sister Churchill knows how to play piano & guitar, he's been asking her to learn so many songs😂 When we mentioned this to an elder in our zone he said “your like the female Elder McFarland!” and hes absolutely right😂 Elder McFarland is THE GUY that plays guitar (at least in my head) and he gets roped into playing the guitar for everything! So I hope sister Churchill gets that same opportunity because I know she loves to play so muchhh

More easter cards
Every missionary was given 200 pass along cards for the Easter music devotional to pass out and we ran out in like 3 days a few weeks ago😂 So today we finally went to the library with the intention of printing more. We got library cards, and put 4 flyers on a page. So with the free 40 copies between the both of us, we printed 160 flyers after cutting them up! For some reason, I really like passing things out lol so im excited to pass them out some more tomorrow to the members of our ward so they can invite their friends!

More chisme w S. Lemus
We had another split with the STLs and I was with sister Lemus again! This time, I got to drive in her area😁 Best part of the split was the stories she told meeee. I love listening to people and hearing about all of their favorite stories to tell and hearing about the experiences that shaped who they are today! It's so fascinating to me! So yea she told me more stories about Mexico and I loved every second of ittt

Dangit Aaron😭
We finally got in contact with him this afternoon via text and he agreed to call at 6pm so we did that. After our niceties and whatnot, he told us that he has been praying and reading and has come to the answer that it is not his time to be baptized. We bore our testimonies, shared scriptures, but he is definitive on his answer. He said he still wants to keep reading the book of mormon and wants to attend church more but this means we have to drop him until he is ready to be baptized.☹️ After our call, sister Churchill and I had to take a 5 minute break before our next phone call lesson because we both cried☹️ It's not a waste, but we just put so much time into Aaron and its so disappointing to see that hes chosen not to get baptized at this time. I felt like we connected so well! But I cant control him, I can only pray that his mind changes at some point and trust in Gods timing.

Tisha!
On a more positive note, we met Tisha today! Sister Lemus and I met her at king soopers while on our split and she lived in SLC for 6 years! After hearing such opposing views from devoted members and exmos, she decided she wants to find out for herself what our church is really all about becasue those people never mentioned scripture, only their personal experiences. So we taught her over the phone after Aaron and it went super well! We taught her the restoration, answered some questions she had, and then invited her to read the introduction and there testimony of the 3 & 8 witnesses! We also got a return appointment for tomorrow at 1:30pm! I have some hope again with Tisha which feels really nice.

Ms Tina saved our butts
We had dinner with her and her sister then she drove us to 3 different people in our area and even let us sit in the car w her while we had a phone call lesson w Rigo😭🙏 This happened from 7:30pm to 8:45pm btw and she even drove us home too! I love the Broomfield 1st members and sister Churchill and I agreed that we need to do something to thank them all for their help this transfer💕

Lesson with Tisha🤯
Bro we met her yesterday, and we already have had 2 lessons! We met at the church and one of the bishopbric’ wives joined us on the lesson! Here's what I wrote as a summary in pmg:

We took 30 minutes literally just talking about the intro and testimony of the witnesses then we asked if she wanted to hear about the plan of salvation but gave her an out since we knew it was already 30 minutes so we taught the plan of salvation and then she started asking about the holy ghost too so we almost taught the gospel of Jesus Christ too lol
Got a return appt on Wednesday at 1:30pm at her house and she said she will send us the address to her house (please pray shes in Broomfield 1st)

So yea that's what happened! I HOPE SHES IN THE BROOMFIELD 1ST BOUNDARIES😭🙏 She seems so elect! She asks a lot of questions, has highlighted her bom already, and wants to know for herself about the church. Not just from the opinion from others. And she really appreciates our teaching! She says its a simple foundation😌

Rigo
Called him at 8pm again and we started with like “how's your day” kind of things and it lead to Rigo asking all about what missionaries do and he was super impressed! Also worried for us too since it was past 8pm and we weren't home yet lol. But yea we just talked and didnt teach him much but we got an appointment in person on Friday! So we hope he is also in our area too lol

Hammonds
They are a wonderful younger couple who had us over for dinner! We had burritos, then we knocked all evening and they drove us home! Im so grateful for our members 💕

Sister graham!
I had my first mission sleepover! Sister graham and sister Wright stayed the night at our apartment because of an early morning hike we are doing tomorrow with President and the rest of the mission. So they arrived at 9:40pm and we stayed up until 11pm talking and whatnot, it was great!

March 9, 26
Hike
We woke up today at 4:30am😭 I wasn't that tired tho for some reason. 🤷‍♀️ We left our apartment at 5:20am and arrived to the bottom of the hike at 6am. This is the same hike I went on last week, and it did not get any easier😭 Plus a bunch of other missionaries were behind me/ passing me, so it stressed me out lowkey to be hiking in the cold and dark like that with so many people waiting behind my slow self. But it was kinda worth it! Sister Churchill and I sat inside a pine tree and we watched the sunrise from there because it was the least windy spot on the top of this mountain we were on. We got some cute photos, appreciated nature, sang high on a mountain top, sang the commission, and then hiked back down. After that, sister graham & wright took us shopping, then took us home and they had to leave for a district pday. But it was all fun!

Napping
We got back home around 10:15am I think and I've been in my bed since lol. Im SO TIRED😭 I havent had a day to do literally nothing all transfer it feels like and im so happy I can just sleep all day today. It could be fun to go out and do other things too but we also dont have a car still lol.

Anywho, I hope yall have a great week, and remember to send me letters! I love themmmmm

Love ya,
Sister Moghimi
