Rodeoooooo
Hello all sorry im over time but this email is just highlights from the week! Enjoy!
We had our mini zone conference and it was so lit😭 Sister Clawsons Dad, President Richie gave a training on multiple things. How to make things happen, how to have the best talk everytime, and the formula for success and happiness.
Go look at my google photos for the diagrams that were made for us!

We had dinner with the grays, and they have a daughter doing hmtc right now! It was so cool to see her gears turning about teaching the gospel for the first time! She also asked us a lot of questions and it was so cool to be an authority on that. Sister finch took most of the questions tho, shes a pro and I was so happy to see sister finch in her element. The daughter was talking about how to do the lessons and sister finch thought it was better to just show her how to do a lesson 😂 She said she was stumbling but I thought she was on fire! We’ve been practicing memorizing the points in the first lesson and she was able to quote most of the lesson while adding in her own words to make it flow naturally, it was so cool!

We had a lesson with Ainsley!
Some elders from the Parker stake (im in Parker south), reassigned someone they were teaching to us because shes in our area. We read a bit about her in our digital area book then headed to the lesson we set up the day prior.
Shes luthoren and takes a theology class at her luthoren school. So in that class they talked about world religions, our church being one of them and it sparked questions for her!
Shes been meeting with missionaries since September and doesnt seem to have an interest in baptism but is very inquisitive. I think thats cool! Shes might be an eternagator (eternal investigator) but I hope that's not the case. Anywho, she asked various questions and we related them back to preach my gospel by teaching the principles that related to her questions. Ive never done that before but it was awesome! Sister finch and I have been practicing memorizing the bullet points of lesson 1 so it was super cool to see sister finch pull that from her memory and teach so easily. I did that too kinda but not as eloquently lol.
And yea we've got another time set up to meet with her next Wednesday!

I think we pretty much memorized the whole first lesson! Ive been taking the last 10 minutes of pstudy to memorize a principle and ive been slowly improving up to the point where sister finch and I can take turns saying a point in the lesson nearly perfectly! Im super proud of myself and the work sister finch and I put into memorizing it! I think we will do that for a few more days and maybe even time ourselves then go onto the plan of salvation.
Then we got mail!
It was books of mormon in chinese and croation, and then a russian bible! Super cool! We asked the mission office for them so we could give them to our friends we are teaching. We ended up taking pictures with them haha
And then had dinner from 4pm to 6pm😭
It was super long but super good! I love learning about members and their stories! The mom was telling me about her wayward son whos currently stepped away from the church but what I thought was cool is that she had that same phase in her life! She told us some of the things she did in her past and her exploration of different churches and how she found her way back. So I love that the Lord is using that to give her a sense of relief and her son is comfortable enough to openly talk about his faith journey with her because shes been through the same thing! I know the Lord set up that family for that situation to happen like it is and it think thats so cool.
After dinner we did some stop bys and then went on a split with the STLs
They jokingly told us if we got NPTs that we could get crumbl and we both got NPTs!
Because we get free crumbl in this area, ive lowkey developed a small addiction to crumbl lol. I love their oreo cookie and the dirty sodas especially😋 I hope I am not in Parker South next transfer or I'll actually start gaining weight lol

Our trails mcm was bumpin! We had almost every ward representative! It was so cool
And pinerys was just the ward mission leader who showed up to church after not being there for two weeks💀 oh and the eq (elders quorum) representative came late
Alison didnt show up which was lame cuz we got a Russian bible for her
Then we had lunch and then pstudy
Then we went to Eliylah and Islas baptism! It was my first time attending a baptism I actually taught the people so it was super special for me. Sister graham and I taught Eliylah nearly all the lessons and then we helped find Isla and start reactivating her family. When Isla was put under the water I started crying, it was so cool! And it meant so much more, I was invested in the people getting baptized and I feel like I knew a lot more of what it took for them to get to that point.
Then we had dinner with a family who had kids that looked just like Joseph and Georgia!! The boy is 16, a football player, and he had a short curly mullet like Joseph! But the boy looked albino lol. And the girl is 14 with curly red hair like Georgia! The family was jokey and the parents had their own businesses, so I felt right at home. Oh also, they had the cutest dogs😭 One bigger dog was named Goose! And my favorite on was this tiny little dog they named Smalls because of how small she is haha. She looked like a little teddy bear and was the size of a 20 Oz soda but looks fatter because she is so fluffy!
After dinner, we had ANOTHER baptism to go to!! Her name is Kenya, and we went for sister Finch. She found Kenya and taught her a bit before the end of her transfer there. Kenya is so sweet too! She was so genuinely grateful for everyone who was there and she gave me a hug and thanked me for being there despite the fact that she had never met me before. Shes not grandma age but definitely gave off grandma vibes in the best was possible.
We were able to gather for a bit after that before heading home too which was nice. Btw gathering is the term used when missionaries gather together for a time. It's not ideal technically but its super fun to hang out with other missionaries.

Yaas the rodeo is today!
We tried to have a phone call lesson with a lady who said shes only ever available to call at 7:30am but she didnt answer us💀
Since she didnt answer, it gave us more time to get ready and then we left to go to murdochs (a tractor supply type place) so sister finch could buy heydudes for the rodeo, and then we quickly did our weekly shopping at walmart.
Oh! While we were at walmart i saw summer sausage! My friend Abby LOVES it and im pretty sure she said you cant really buy it in FL or something but it was cool to see at walmart cuz it reminded me of her lol.
After walmart we went home to drop off our groceries and went to sisters closet!
As a reminder, sisters closet is once a transfer where all the sisters in the mission gather all their unwanted clothing and put them on tables for other sisters to have! A lot of time i can see why people give up their clothes😂 but I got a pair of pants, workout shorts, and a winter coat!
I also saw sister graham which was amazing as always😁
Oh and hermana maxey too! Shes so funny bruh
Okay now for the big event, the rodeo!!
We went the the pro rodeo at the National Western Stock Show. According to sister finch, its a big deal kind of rodeo! But not THE rodeo. The biggest rodeo is the National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas, that happens every December.
I took a bunch of videos of the different things that happened at the rodeo on my Google photos so yall should look at them!
Ive never been to a rodeo before so ill do my best to explain it for the city folk like myself whos never gone:
Grand entry: a riding team runs their horses in various formations to music to impress people and hype up the crowd for the competitions about to happen
Horse riding: i literally forgot to record this because I was so fascinated! Riders are put on horses with a strap on the horse that's super uncomfortable for the horse and they are timed and judged for how long and how well they stay on the horse. It looks just like bull fighting but with a horse! And it might be slightly less dangerous but im not sure
Steer wrestling: a steer (small male cow) runs into the arena and its the competitors job to ride his horse then jump off it to grab the steering by the horns with his hands and pin it to the ground. You are judged by how fast you pin it to the ground
Mutton busting: little kids like 5-7 yrs old are put on sheep and hold onto dear life while the sheep trots across the arena. It's super cute!
Team roping: two riders run out into the arena and one has to lasso the horns of steer while the other has to lasso the back legs of the steer. Both of those things have to happen or it doesnt count and they are measured by time.
Drill team: another riding team doing like a intermission thing like the grand entry where they run in various formations for cool effect. There was one part where they took turns literally running AT each other and barely missing on purpose😵💫 I nearly had a heart attack a few times
Tie down roping: a steer runs out into the arena and a rider runs out with his horse and lassos the steer by its horns then jumps off the horse and ties down its legs. They are timed by how fast all this happens. The fastest sister finch said shes ever seen was 3 point something seconds!
Gun slinging and other things: I asked what this part was called and sister finch didnt have a name for it so thats what im calling it. This guy basically spins guns fancy, and spins his lasso in a lot of cool ways. He also uses a whip thats super loud!
Barrel racing: sister finch used to do this! There are 3 barrels in triangular form and riders have to run around them in a clover ☘️ shape and run back to where they came from. This one is also timed and your score doesnt count when you tip a barrel but if you touch it and it doesnt fall, your score still counts
Bull fighting: a rider is put on a bull that is uncomfortable and it bucks super aggressively while the rider has the stay on while using one hand! So dangerous but so fascinating
There was also a rodeo clown that occasionally said jokes and whatnot but he wasn't funny and i couldn't hear him half the time lol.
Another thing I loved were all the ads!😂 After each event, rodeo queens would ride a horse around the arena with a flag that had a company on it and the speaker guys would talk about the company while people set-up for the next event. It was so unique to me and I LOVED it!
Okay I got to go and yall wont see an email from me next Monday because im going to the temple next thursday! I will talk to yall then!
Love ya!
