They Killed My Jimbaco Idea?!๐Ÿ˜ฉ

Context of the title: Sister graham, my companion, was telling me about just funny memes and then we saw a jack in the box at a stop light and it reminded her of a funny jack in the box commercial she saw on YouTube.
I guess their mascot is just some dude in a clown hat and it was like him at a conference room pitching an idea for the jimbaco (some food mixed with a taco) and he's cheering alone going “ Jimbaco! Jimbaco!” with his arms raising and trying to get this board to approve the idea but they're dead face. The commercial then cuts the mascots living room where his son in utter disappointment in a high pitched voice goes “They killed my jimbaco idea?!๐Ÿ˜ฉ” and the mascot dad is consoling the son lol. Sister graham explained all that to me because we aren't allowed to actually watch the clip, even on pday, but her delivery of it was so funny that we keep quoting it to each other and we die laughing all the time. If I wasn't on my mission it would probably be the dumbest thing id ever seen but jokes are a lot funnier when I'm not plugged into a supercharged internet phone 24/7.

Okay onto the rest of my post! ๐Ÿ‘‰

Ayyee y'all get a Tuesday email from me again!

My schedule has been off only because of thanksgiving and now we're going to the temple today! Since temples are closed on Monday, we had to switch our preparation day to a different day of the week so we could go, and it was so fun!

November 28
Had a walking interview with my mission president
We have to have an interview with our mission president every 6 weeks so he can check in on us. Normally this is done in a sit down fashion all formal but he likes to spice things up so the way he does them is we dress up in workout clothes and each companionship takes turn walking a mile with president while the other walks behind in sight but not sound of their companion so the mission president and their companion can talk privately while walking around presidents neighborhood lol.

This was my first walking interview and I learned a lot!
I came into the field with the mindset that baptisms = success and I was slapped with reality. I was getting down because of it and my companion was trying to tell me the errors of my ways and I ended up being a jerk to her because of it. The first 3 weeks basically were not really fun for each of us, but after my interview with president I started to treat her better, and my new definition of success right now is determined by how much time and effort I'm putting into finding and teaching people. I feel a lot more successful and happy to just be out doing work.
I also am getting along much better with my companion and I feel like we are really good friends now!

After the interview, later that afternoon we had a lesson with Eliylah!
She's Eboni's daughter who isn't baptized and she's so sweet and also so quiet lol
Eboni is a convert of 12 years who hasn't had success in switching her records over to her current ward of 3 years. We've been helping her do that and we get to teach her daughter too!
We taught her lesson 1 then I was the one that asked her to be baptized! She was like “maybeeee… well actually yes” and it made me laugh and I jokingly said “no take backs!” We then gave her a baptismal card that is like a calender to lead up to the person's baptism. It's cool cuz its something they can look at for themselves and also can check off stuff when they complete lessons with us.
We showed her the questions that she will be asked at her baptismal interview and she seemed comfortable with them! Shes gonna get baptized December 13th and I am so excited for her!

After that we had dinner then went knocking
Before my interview with president, I think I would've felt like a schmuck for not having a lot of tangible success from knocking that night but we got two people's phone numbers out of the bunch of doors we knocked in like an hour and I feel successful from that! Even if we didnt get any phone numbers.
There's a section in Preach My Gospel (the book missionaries use to learn how to be missionaries) that talks about finding people and they use the analogy of having fishing poles in water. You might be out of the house all day but if you take all your time prepping or doing other stuff besides sitting out on the boat with your fishing line in the water, you're not gonna see success. So yea I'm just happy when we are teaching people or ‘having our lines in the water’.

We went home and got there at 9 so we had time to chill and get ready for bed and sister graham and I started throwing a small yoga type ball back and forth and I started using my head and it was super effective lol
It felt like evidence of our relationship becoming a lot better and we were just laughing the whole time because of how dumb it was

Lesson with Sandra…
So we did part of lesson 4 with sandra. Lesson 4 covers the things you promise God when you get baptized, like keep the commandments, so we have to cover all the commandments one must keep (or try to because we are imperfect) to get baptized. The big three are the law of chastity, law of tithing, and the word of wisdom. They're called the big three because they are usually the reason someone doesn't get baptized. This ended up happening to us. Sandra was doing fine until the word of wisdom then sister Graham noticed a change in her body language and she said yes to us but realized she would have to give up one of her habits for good to get baptized. She ended up calling us saying that she didn't / couldn't stop this habit and we tried to workshop ideas to replace her bad habit with good ones but I think in her mind this is a permanent thing for her. She also said she didn't want to come to church that sunday either and it broke our hearts to see this happen. We are meeting with her tomorrow to smooth things over and hopefully change her mind but I think she wont end up getting baptized.

We use our phones a lot on this mission
After dinner, we are supposed to be out of the apartment being productive till bedtime (6pm-9pm), but we ended up staying at the apartment because we had so many people to contact saturday night! We contacted over 800 people to ask them to come to church and it took literally forever bruh. We also had to write a report to our ward mission leader about the people we are teaching. But yea it took so long.

Church was quite enjoyable
It felt like the Lord was talking directly to me during church. The topics referenced were the parable of the talents, the lady at the well, and one guy gave a bunch of bible examples about how they had to wait on Gods time. It felt like so many reminders that I needed and it was like shocking to me, it felt like Gods eyes were on me in the coolest way possible.

Long nap then the nuffers house!
We get super tired doing stuff all day so we take naps during lunch and dinner and we ended up napping for 45 minutes lol
Then we went to the Nuffers house for dinner!
They had us over for Thanksgiving but they had some many ppl over that we didnt get the chance to talk to them but they are so cool and remind me of my parents
Their business is heating and air and they have all their kids out of the house so they have their own rooms in their house to do their hobbies
Brother nuffers is beekeeping and sister nuffers is crafting
The funny thing about it is that both of their hobbies can be profitable, classic entrepreneur and it reminded me of my parents becaue they can't help but want to make money lol and I love it
We ended up seeing their respective rooms and we were able to take home a jar of their homemade honey and chapstick from the beeswax!

December 1
Had our first pass off
After someone gets baptized, we have to teach them the lessons again and then we pass them off to senior missionaries so they can continue to help new converts get to the temple
This was our first time doing that with Cameron and it was cool! We saw the program the senior missionaries use to help these people and its cool to see how the church has planned out everything for new members, it shows how much our church cares about helping people progress and not just having people show up at church

We saw sandra at taco bell
Lol we saw sandra at taco bell and it was her bday too
She seemed happy to see us but idk if she was putting on a face or something cuz it is an awkward thing to basically say “I dont wanna see you” and then see you. I hope tomorrow (Wednesday) we can get her back on the path to baptism

Zone pday is lame
Every transfer (a 6 week period), each zone (missionaries in a stake) have a pday where they hang out and do activities and like bond and stuff. Our pday was lame lol. We couldnt even stay because mine and sister grahams pday was today so we only stayed for an hour but I'm glad it was only that. The only thing we did was sit around as girls and watch the boys play knockout with the basketballs or throw a football or something. Sister graham told me zone plays can be fun but it depends on the zone, the people in the zone, and the activity, so its a real gamble if they end up being fun or not.

Super long weekly planning
We plan our whole week by identifying who to contact and how, and it takes so looooong bro. This week it took like 3 hours and we were wasted by dinner. Then we had to follow thru on the plans we made ๐Ÿ˜”
This is sister Graham after our weekly planning, he has adhd so its a lot of brain power to organize ourselves like this

Stop bys and chuck
The plans we made were stopping by people who were supposedly interested and then on our way to another stop by we stopped at a quiktrip and got soda and we met this guy to talked our EARS off! His name is Chuck and he basically told us his life story for 30 minutes. It was a small success tho bcuz we got his number and invited him to our ward Christmas party bcuz he needs friends.

December 2
Temple trip!!
We went to the Denver temple and did an endowment session then inititories. The room where we did our endowments tho was the smallest I've ever been in! In older temples, there are multiples rooms people walk through to symbolize the progression of life to exaltation but they have simplified it to one room to allow temples to be built faster and easier. It's a little disappointing because I like the fancy artwork on the walls and going into the different rooms but its the same covenants we get to make for people so its really okay.

On our way back from the temple, Eboni texted us saying she tried to call us and said we were jerks basically for not picking up and shes baptizing her daughter in her old ward where her family lives๐Ÿ˜ญ We didnt get her calls! And weve been nothing but nice to Eboni! We love her and her kids! So this energy switch is so weird and I hope we can clear it up because Eliylah needs to have the lessons before she can be baptized.

After that wackiness, we went to jack in the box because of the jimbaco ad we keep quoting and the food was so bad๐Ÿ˜‚ It's like $13 for food that's worse than taco bell๐Ÿ˜‚ But I'm glad we got to take a picture in front of the place haha

After that we were on the computers in our apartment complex and I spent it downloading Christmas music, figuring out what to ask for for Christmas, and calling my parents

Then we had an awkward dinner with some members and their 7 yr old daughter (not all member dinners are bangers), did more stop bys and now I'm in my apartment finishing my email!

I need to work on writing these earlier in the day so ill do better next time

Love,
Sister Moghimi
