Third Weeks the Charm

Image
We had a weird week where we had pday on Thanksgiving (the reason I dont know why), so thats why I'm writing now😁 November 18 I believe I already talked about who Moose is. Hes a 6 foot something redneck veteran who's in a giant wheelchair with his tiny dog named tuffy in the front basket. He is apparently the church buildings security which is I guess why hes always around the building in the middle of the day.  We had an appointment set up by the missionaries before us to have a lesson with fang (pronounced fong), Moose's wife, she has had 0 interest in the church but for some reason the previous missionaries wanted to meet with her I guess so we went anyways. The following is what I wrote down in my journal after the experience: So fang is Moose's mail order Chinese wife (literally). She works most days and on the weekends running tests at the hospital for various things. Anywho, so we got over and Moose isn't there but we make the best of it and go in anyways. ...

Monday Emails From Now On!

Image
It's sooner than you thought! At the mtc, my pday was Tuesday but from now on its on monday! So if you're from my stake back at home, I'll be added to the sea of boys that write emails haha. Okay so I think I told yall about last Tuesday and getting to Denver so I'll start on Wednesday and update yall from there So Wednesday was transfer day! Typically every 6 weeks is when missionaries change companions and change areas. So like if I was in the lake Mary ward and my sister Georgia was my companion, at transfers I could be put with Abby in the mt Dora ward or something like that. It sounds like to me that you switch stakes when you transfer to somewhere else. I think thats cool cuz you get to know a whole different area of your mission for 6 weeks. Okay back to Wednesday, so we got picked up by the APs (assistants to the mission president). We were taken to a chapel that's considered home base for the missionaries and then we were drafted like its the NFL haha. Pres...

The Waiting Game

Image
So I said last time this one would be shorter but it's not. I appreciate your patience and I hope you enjoy my thoughts. I waited to submit my papers to be a missionary for about a year, I waited over a week to get my call, I waited 4 months to get set apart as a missionary, I waited a week to enter the mtc in person, I waited 2 weeks to finish the mtc, I waited another 3 hours at the airport for my flight, now im waiting till tomorrow to see who my trainer is. I think there's a lesson in here somewhere, just don't ask me to write a talk about it yet haha. I plan on sharing some experiences from my week prior while still being at the mtc, and I wrote this at the airport at 6am and throughout the day till 10pm. My Companions Bday! Tuesday, November 4th was my companion's birthday! She turned 20! Sister Anderton had a friend who packed a banner and some balloons for a girl in her district so she asked to use that stuff and we were able to surprise her with some decoration...

In person MTC finally

I'm finally at the mtc (missionary training center)! Here are the major highlights and lowlights I wanna share plus information that future missionaries could find helpful or interesting and what I'm currently learning as a missionary. I'd also like to warn you in advance that this is probably a long email but they probably won't be this long all the time, the mtc is just such a unique experience. Temple / Leaving Aunt Amy So, I stayed with my aunt Amy the night before the mtc and we had cousins over and it was great! The next morning we went to the Provo City Center temple literally only because she knew I wanted to go to that one in particular. It was so nice of her! I'll attach a picture of it. We did an endowment session which is when we make additional promises with God that He makes to us back like at baptism. I did not do this for myself that day, I did it on behalf of someone who is dead so on the other side, they get the opportunity to make that same promis...
